Our pool renovation was completed a couple of months ago. Since about the first week, I would notice some spots of the pool finish showing a bit of faint yellowing. The finish is sky blue Pebbletec (basically white with blue speckles throughout). The water has tested fine since the start, so what could this be?

We brush it and nothing happens. And again, I test the water, and everything is within safe ranges.

I don't currently have photos or video to show, but wanted to start here in case someone might have experienced the same. I know this pool company is sick of me, but they've screwed up several things in this process so I can't help but wonder if this is an application/human error issue.

I'll reach out to Pebbletec as well. Thanks for any thoughts/experiences!

Iron. Try the remedy listed in the article below

I wanted to write a little update (and add a question that hopefully someone sees).

I tested the yellowing spots with a chlorine puck and with vitamin C. I crushed the vitamin C pills inside a pantyhose, tied it to a rope, and dropped it into the deep end onto a yellow area. I did the same for the puck, except I didn't crush it. It ate threw the panty hose, so it was directly on the floor.

Anyway, strangely, I could not tell an obvious difference between either test spot. Granted I didn't dive down there to take a close look because the water is a bit chilly. But it's very clear and I couldn't see any real change when I intially pulled up the items.

One thing I did notice is that these stains seem to change. My husband mentioned that himself so I now know I'm not misremembering things. It does not seem to brush away, even with a metal-bristle brush.

Given it seems to change--and it's fairly faint--could this be algae? The finish in my pool is only a few months old if that matters. My theory is that since my pool pump and filter housing are so old, that perhaps this is the reason for the staining. What do you think? I'm getting all new equipment (except for the heater) in a few weeks or so.

I would post a photo, but I don't think it really could capture what I'm seeing in person. I've noticed this yellowing tinge in spots on the finish since not long after filling the pool.
