In my Caldera Vanto's spa owners manual it states that in areas were temperatures can go below 10F with higher winds, the jet pump may partially freeze. It suggests installing a insulating kit to prevent this and improve energy efficiency. The manual says to remove this kit when temps reach 60-70F. I asked my dealer and they said they do not carry it. I searched online for this kit, and I don't see anyone selling it or even mentioning it. The equipment compartment and access panel are uninsulated, but the rest of the spa is filled with blown in FiberCor insulation on Caldera spas. Here in NE Ohio temperatures dip to below zero on occasion.
Should I buy some foam board insulation at a hardware store and attach it to the inside of the access panel as extra insurance? I fear I may create a moisture rich environment in there and have mold/mildew and premature pump /electronics issues. Any advice is appreciated.
