Wondering if part of gunnite shell is exposed

I’ve been fighting some black algae and in one particular spot that appeared the worst after regular brushing with a stainless brush a different material/texture was exposed. My first guess is the plaster is gone in this spot & the gunnite shell is exposed? It’s a brown color & the small circles I’m guessing are aggregate in the mix? Attached a close up of area & a further out picture for perspective. Thanks for any advice.

Did you resurface your pool after finding the raw spots or apply a patch of some sort?

Resurfaced. If it’s one spot you can patch, but it’s usually not confined to one spot unless there was damage that caused it and not just aging.
