We closed our above ground pool end of Oct. ( 10 years ) we closed it the same way as always. We noticed the ground really wet on the backside area but we’ve had a ton of rain and it always takes a little longer for that area to dry up. We thought maybe the pool had a leak, but how is that possible? It’s winterized! Long story short. The pool is almost empty but this is the first dry day we could address it. We are draining the water off of the cover and are going to uncover it to see if we can find the problem. What would cause it to leak? No leaks all summer. What a mess. Any thoughts are welcome. ?

Welcome to TFP! Well, what may have caused a leak is tough for us to know, but one thing's for sure, if the water level has dropped significantly since closing, there's a leak somewhere. Some owners find leaks hard to find in the summer if they received lots of rain. Pay special attention to the seams around the corners or any areas where different surface meet. Even where ladders sit on the bottom. If you find it, there are many patch kits available to help you get it sealed.

When you get a chance, make sure to update your signature with all of your pool and equipment info. It can help later.
