My first time posting. I've been reading and watching YouTube videos about what to put underneath swimming pool and was leaning towards either eps or foam mats. I came across a blog that says not to use foam because condensation gets trapped and can't pass through to the ground leaving pool wall and frame soaked so will lead to corrosion. But it seems like alot of people have had success with foam. Any thoughts?

Hi, welcome to TFP! Foam mats under the pool will not harm the pool walls. Usually people are using foam mats under Intex pole style soft wall pools. Traditional hard wall above ground pools may use a thin foam pad such as a Gorilla pad to help prevent weed and rocks from working up through the sand bed into the liner. Neither mat type would prevent condensation from draining out the bottom of the wall. There is wall foam that is typically used for in-ground vinyl liner pools, but I would not use it on an above ground pool.

Thank you. That blog is the only place I read that and they seemed to be trying to sell the gorilla pad or Armour one. We bought a Coleman (bestway) oval pool 26'x12'x52" with metal steel frame. Any suggestions of what to put under pool? I'm wanting to keep anything from growing into the pool from underneath and something soft for our feet.

The pads you mention are very thin and won’t soften the surface. They are just meant to keep anything from poking thru liner.

I just had mine sitting on solid, level ground, about a 1 inch layer of sand, and gorilla pad. It was fine, I never once thought “gee, the bottom of my pool isn’t soft enough.”
