Thank you for such an informative site! I have CYA readings that exceed 100 after diluting my 14,000 gallon pool with 12,000 gallons of new water by pumping 2,000 gallons a day from the deep end while adding 2,000 gallons a day in the shallow end. I can’t pump all the old water and refill right now since it is summer in Mesa, AZ - HOT!!! After reading your articles, I understand why my CYA is still so high given I have been floating Trichlor tablets for over 2 years. My question is what is the downside to just balancing my PH and TA and keeping my CL around 12 ppm using liquid CL?
Why not just deal with high CYA?
