I'd say over 2 weeks now when I noticed the water was very cloudy. This was after my previous SLAM, which I may have ended too early.
Why am I losing this SLAM?

Hmmm no I realize I've been backwashing / rinsing / refilling a few times since I last checked. It may have dropped down, but it was above 40 and right below 50 when I measured. Lower CYA is better from my understanding for SLAM, so I'm not concerned unless I should be?
This is also day 2 of the water being crystal clear but still brushing up dead algae, though 30 - 40% less than yesterday. FC went from 22 to 19 this morning, which is better than the usual 6ppm drop. Just topped back off to 21.5
I'm guessing I have to check the light now or never? I'm hoping to leave the light alone but I guess there's no avoiding it unless I want to SLAM again...

My gosh, thank you. I had to get both bulbs replaced and a combination of hesitancy and fear made me leave it to the pool guy. This guy charged me a buncha money to replace these bulbs and on top of that the bulbs weren't screwed in well and were loose.If you’re slamming for 50ppm cya you’re covered

Brushed 10 hours apart today, still brushing up semi-thick clouds even though the pool is crystal clear, pool fc dropped to 14 today around 8PM
So I don't vacuum to waste because I didn't see that in the SLAM guide. I finally took out the lights a couple days ago and a cloud of dust came out as I brushed inside. However now my pool is cloudy again, I feel my SLAM has been cloudy this whole time even weeks later, it finally got clear the day after I opened the light, and then the 2nd day after water's turning cloudy again.
I just shocked back up to 21 this morning for CYA 50. Stairs are removed, Lights are removed. There's nothing left in my pool besides drain covers, and I don't know if I can hold my breath long enough to remove a drain from 8 feet deep

That cloud of dust from behind the lights is hidden algae, so great job finding that. Time will tell if that is the only hiding spot or if there are any others.
As for the drain, removing the cover and scrubbing is the best way, I've seen people have decent luck diving down to the bottom with the water hose and putting the nozzle on a strong setting and blasting the drain from various angles to disrupt any algae in the covers.
Lastly, can you share your pool math logs with us? That way we can see your exact measurements and help you with anything we see off.
