Who should have registration on equipment? Owner or PB?

I ask because we just finished our pool build and I went to register the equipment but it came up already registered. Pentair Rep says it’s all registered with our PB. Is that normal? Wouldn’t we want to register it under our name Incase we have an issue? I heard Pentair has a rebate on the pump we have right now for $100. I wanted to get that back.
I should say, our PB has been very nice and done a great job. I don’t want to assume registration should be with us if it’s normal to be done via the PB.

Thoughts??

My PB actually took care of all the registration and rebate processing for me, and I just got a $200 gift card in the mail. The only thing that sucked is that both my heat pump and cleaner had rebates, but I got a rejection on the lesser amount one because they said only 1 rebate per household.

My installer did all the registration directly with Pentair, so that part is not unusual at all. But it was all in my name. Yours should be in yours, as well. My rebates came to me, as should yours.

As others have said, the PB usually handles sending in the warranty information to the equipment makers because most of them require a professional installation in order to get extended warranties and rebates. So the PB is required to add their information. However, all warranties should be in your name. I would suggest you call the PB and get them to work with Pentair to correct the information.
