I have INTEX QX2600 Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump & Saltwater Systems with Electrocatalytic Oxidation! I have only added salt to my pool. Day 3 and while running the SWG on 7 hours foam started forming, I scooped it out and it immediately came back. Showing low FC on strips. I am waiting for my Taylor water test to
Get here and scared to take a water sample to the pool store because I have heard they sell you a bunch of stuff you don’t need.

Running Pump 24/7
Chlorinator 7 hours a day.

What am I doing wrong??

You need chlorine now.
Add 3ppm worth of liquid chlorine slowly infront of a running return. Do this each day until your kit comes.
You also need cya (stabilizer) to protect your chlorine from the sun -
start with only 30ppm worth for now,
added via the sock method (in a sock hanging infront of a running return).
Use PoolMath to calculate amounts.

Your swcg cannot make up target fc levels from zero- its incapable.
Its a maintainer.

Thank you for all your help! So I did search the forum for recommended liquid chlorine and found pool essentials from Walmart is recommended. But I’m having trouble finding the recommended CYA recommendation.
Also, I hate to type this but what is PPM? How do I measure that?

So I add the liquid chlorine with a dropper?
Download pool math, configure your pool.
Use "effects of adding" , select liquid chlorine, enter the % concentration of the LC, adjust the ounces until it shows you are adding 5ppm.

(go do it, and confirm that 33oz. will raise your FC by 3ppm.

Note*
To avoid confusion,
the amount I originally recommended & calculated in the post above was 3ppm & poolstored recommended 5ppm - either is fine & won’t hurt a thing 😊
The poolmath calculator will tell you exactly how many ounces that needs to be in your pool volume.

OMG a lightbulb is finally coming on!! This “effects of adding” is amazing! Now is there a tool if (once I get my Taylor kit) and something is showing low it will tell me what and how much to add? Or is this mainly needed for “startup”

Press the + sign and enter your results. The overview page will show you. You can then click on each one and will give you recommendations.

Sooo, back to the foam.

Did you get a test kit ordered?

We will help you clear the pool when it arrives. Can you skim it off with a net? Do that for now.
