Where to locate lights?

I'm having trouble figuring out the best place to locate my pool lights. I will have five Pentair color MicroBrite Lights. One will be in the spa, and the other four will be in the pool. I'm not concerned about the placement of the spa light, but I'm having trouble figuring out where to place the four in the pool. I want at least one light on the tanning ledge, so that leaves three lights to locate somewhere in the main body of the pool.

I know that normally the advice is to point the lights away from the seating area, but my pool builder is telling me that if I do that with my pool design (see pictures below) there will be some weird shadows created by the steps, and in the area behind the spa. Therefore, the PB is suggesting the we point the lights towards the seating area (which would mean the lights would be located in the side of the pool that is on the bottom as depicted in the first picture), but to put them deep enough below the waterline so that they will not be uncomfortably bright for the people in the patio seating area. However, if we put the lights on this wall, the lights would either have to be below the bench seat that runs along this wall (which would likely mean that the bench area would not be illuminated and would appear dark) or the lights would have to be above the bench (which would likely mean that there would be awkward shadows created below the bench, and might also mean that I could not locate the lights deep enough to not bother people in the seating area).

Considering these issues, would you:

1. Locate the three pool lights in the wall that's on the top in the first picture (i.e. pointing away from the seating area)?

2. Locate the three pool lights in the wall that's on the bottom in the first picture (i.e. pointing towards the seating area)? If so, would you put them above the bench or below the bench?

Or

3. Place the lights in some other location?

Any other suggestions?

1 in the deep end centered, 2 pointing away from the seating area centered and 1 on the stairs pointing toward the loungers... That would give you almost everything covered without being blinded from the house :)
