All,
55+ HOA pool 50k gallons in ground. Pool company comes once a week to test and clean. A c ouple of us are caretakers during the week.
Will all of the heavy useage this 4th of July weekend- probably 40 people max in pool at a time. do I shock?
WE try and keep CL level around 3-5.

Everything I've read say shock after heavy useage- Given our CL levels do we need to shock? Use CL shock or non CL? Assuming if we use CL shock at rate on container that willl push our CL levels pretty high?
pool is newly opened this year and some of us with little pool experience or private pool experience are trying to help out

Thanks in advance

Your HOA pool is considered a public pool by statute. You are governed by these rules (link below). You must follow them. You cannot follow TFP recommendations.

yup,
I understand the state rules- the rules however don't say how to treat the pool- that why I'm asking for advice here. They talk about required levels not day to day treatment

Didn't read the statutes. Most states require closing the pool when FC > 4.

What is your CYA level in the pool?

How do you test the water chemistry?

What are the actual levels compared to maximum allowable according to regulations?
