I have a Hayward sand filter and someone gave me a new lay flat hose for back washing. The catch is it's 2". I purchased a 2" fitting but it won't thread onto the discharge. Does anyone know what size and more importantly thread pitch I need to make this work? Thanks

My Hayward filter has 1.5” threaded outlets. I went to a pool store and bought 1.5”x2” unions to hook up to my 2” PVC.
I really should proof read my posts. I know the inside fitting is 1.5", I was asking about the outer thread on the discharge. Sorry for the confusion.
