Hey all! I noticed these spots in my only in my spa. I have a pool spa combo. Not to say they aren’t in my pool but I haven’t noticed them yet if they are. I have tried taking a chlorine tab and vigorously rubbing it on the stain but the stain persists. I’m wondering if anyone knows what these are and how to treat? IMG_2709.jpeg

Put a paste of vitamin C in a sock and rub it on the spots. If it lifts the are iron stains.

They look like iron pellets in fertilizer got in the pool. You have any landscaping done around the pool? Or construction around the house?

So your recommendation would be fix it with vitamin c paste?

A full pool treatment would be - Ascorbic Acid Treatment - Further Reading

Depending on how widespread it is you can spot treat areas using crushed up vitamin C.

That will lift the iron off the surface and put it in solution in the water. Iron in the water may redeposit on pool surfaces unless bound to sequestrant - Sequestrant - Further Reading

Or you can try and filter out the iron using polyfill - Iron Fill Water Filter - Further Reading

Or you can drain your water after lifting the stains and refill with fresh water.

Thank you. I’ll start reading up on these items.

The Vitamin C will consume your FC so keep an eye on your FC level and keep it at the high end of your FC/CYA range so you do not end up with an algae problem.
