Hey guys! I’m hoping someone can help me. We cleaned our filters this weekend. They were pretty dirty and had a large clump of dog hair, leaves, etc stuck between the cartridges. Upon looking closer, we noticed hundreds of these little white things. A little smaller than a grain of rice and seemed to have a tail or stem on them. Any idea what they are?

Ewwwwwwwww is what it is LOL Hi and welcome to TFP. Do they move at all? I could scrap them off then soak that cartridge in a big plastic trash can full of 1 to 4 muricatic acid and water. I would also push your FC levels to SLAM level as seen here: SLAM Process
looks like bleached out tree or flow seeds to me. Do you have a time of year that cherry blossoms, oak worms or some other type of natural debris flies into the pool and gets trapped by the filter?
Although there is quite a bit of Crud blowing around from the paleo verde trees, we don’t get any of the shrapnel here. Lots of palms and cactus around us though.

Are the filters dry or was it pulled from a working filter. Looks like eggs of some sort just shy of an exploding infestation.
The filters were pulled from a working system. We don’t seem to have any other issues in or around the pool. All plants and yard seem to be fine.
Well we may never know for sure but I still stick with my idea of pushing the FC up to just under SLAM level for your CYA and deep cleaning that filter just to be on the safe side!
