What are these 2 components for?

We have this 19" 175lb sand filter with 1.9HP 4900GPH pump from Xtreme Power USA for above ground pool.

We have two components in the sand filter do not know what function and what to do?

1. 17" long 1/4" round rod attached to the bottom of the hexagon sand filter core. It is tie wrap to the filter core. Should we cut the tie wrap at installation?
2. 1.75" long 1/4" round slotted cut hollow plastic piece.

The first is the air vent tube. That stays there and should not be covered by sand when full. The smaller piece is one of the lateral fingers that gets screwed into the hub at the bottom. If you have an extra, just keep it in a safe place in case one of the others breaks.

Thank you for your responses, Texas Splash. 1. How does this Vent tube function? Should this still tie strap to the side of core tube as in picture? We only have 100 lbs of sand in this 175lb sand filter, and this vent tube is not cover over by sand. 2. This small piece is much smaller than other core tubes. Cannot find where it should screw into. See add pic. Thank you again.

Yes, the vent tube remains secured to the center pipe to prevent it from falling over into the sand. As for the extra (mystery) part, I'm not sure. Other than the 8 lateral branches that extend out from the hub assembly at the bottom, I can't see where that belongs or what it's purpose might be. Maybe an extra piece that was tossed into the package? You can try to contact the filter's customer service just in case.

We have tried the water jet into the bottom of the sand to deep clean flash out the dirt, then pump out the dirty water.
Ares there any better way to clean the sand by disassemble the 5-wqy valve, the hoses, and pumping the dirty water out?

Texas Splash, yes, thanks. I watched the same Youtube video too.
I use stronger water pressure jet nozzle to get to the bottom of sand filter. But I am unable to let water spill flow out from the top onto the patio. So, I use wet vacuum to suck the water out one at a time, too hard work. That must be a better way thro'.
