Upon getting everything up & running It seems my 7 way valve is leaking at this seam

I tightened the screws, but alas, more water flows.
Perhaps I should try opening it up & using pool lube on o-ring #7 before going parts hunting 🤷‍♀️

Here’s the diagram of parts - seems intense & a little overwhelming …

Certainly can't hurt. I would. Might get lucky, or at the very least stall for some time.

Before opening do i have to drain the sand filter or can i just turn off all the valves & relieve the pressure?

Just shut off the system, close the 3-way valves before and after the filter to isolate it. If there is an air bleed on that filter you might bleed the air out to relieve the pressure.

That will work. Itlooks like you are iopening the highest point in the system. Gravity will drain all the water away from you when you give it a vent path.

When i press the handle down you can hear it relieving pressure- the winterize setting just props the handle up in that position so I assume that’s what’s going on.
note to self … take pictures before disassembling ! I am imagining all the parts in that exploded diagram shooting out at me 🤣🤣🤣 time for another Lucille Ball style adventure!

On a funny coincidence, Yesterday I was replacing the battery in my motorcycle and neglected to take pictures. during disassembly. I figured, it's 5 wires I can keep this straight in my head. Until I started putting everything back and realized "is this a Hot, or a Ground....Well it's black so should be ground, but it's got a stripe so what does that mean"

When I ripped apart my dash I had lots of pics along w/ post it notes errrywhere! Thank goodness because you never know when you will get interrupted & lose track.
I also take pics when cleaning for people. For instance, when I have to remove all the knickknacks to clean above the cabinets so I can put things back where they go.

A ripped apart the dash on a 2000 Chevy Blazer to fix the heater core once. I never did get the airbag warning light to clear after that. Oh well who needs airbags right?
