I have our own pool mastered, but this in-ground pool we are having to care for is estimated between 20,000-25,000. There is no info available for this pool. It is deep and was being serviced by a pool servicer that abruptly quit. The people had bought the house as a foreclosure and the previous owner was unwilling to give them any info.
It was pond green when we obtained the house and it was drained, cleaned and refilled. I use a TF-100 test kit that has served me well for my pool. I did initial testing and as a fresh fill with well water it is crazy. TA measured as 280. I checked it twice. It has NO CHLORINE in it despite the service stating he added some (floater was empty as well).

I have added 1/2 gallon mixed in water in small batches and am retesting tonight. Any thoughts on how to proceed?
Thanks

You need a full set of test results. Don't worry about TA, it's the last thing to worry about.

You need chlorine, ad stabilizer in the water. A pH test will point out the next move.

Thanks Tim. I added an initial dose of chlorine and tablets in the floaters. Will do a full test and take a test to the local pool store to compare to my results (see if they have any additional suggestions. I have used Pool Rx in miy pool which has been a game changer with my pool along with SeaKlear phosphate remover. This has been the easiest summer ever dealing with algae and phosphates. I have a cartridge for this pool as well but haven’t put it in yet.
