Attached are my results and what to add. I am just opening pool and it was very green. Shocked the Crud out of it and attached are the results.. When calculating everything on here, it says to add Borax, baking soda, liquid chlorine and cya. Just making sure I’m doing the right thing and less cost efficient. I do have 25,000 gallon pool/sand filter.. Please advise and thanks

Hi McConkey,

Looks like you already got your official welcome from Pat along with some recommended reading material. As you review some of those topics, you'll probably find you have some work ahead of you. First...don't trust pool store test results and ignore their recommendations. Just dumping shock in the pool will not clear up algae. You'll need to follow the SLAM Process, but you need accurate test results to do it.

For now, you need a TFP recommended test kit Test Kits Compared. This initial investment will pay off in future savings. Look at some the options at tftestkits.net. You'll need the salt test kit option if you have a salt water chlorine generator (SWG). Another option is the Taylor k-2006C, but the TF-based kits are a better value for the residential pool owner.

For now, add about 5 ppm of liquid chlorine/bleach daily. That's about 2-gallons of 10% liquid chlorine.

Install PoolMath and start getting familiar with the app.

We're here to help answer any questions and walk you through the process.

So don’t add any baking soda??
TFP doesn't make recommendations based on pool store tests. For my pool, I wouldn't make any chemical changes based on PS results. I've found them to be inconsistent and inaccurate.

I got my water tested at the pool place today but I have ordered a Taylor test kit.
I see you added a signature. Great move, assuming it's one of the recommended kits.

Check out some of the topics related to algae in Pool School and study up on the SLAM process.

Some other good topics...
