Water Feature / Autofill automation ?

I saw someone in a facebook group used a water feature to create a type of auto-fill. It runs 10 minutes a day and basically turns on a hose to add water to the pool. I am building a new pool and auto-fill is quoted at $2600. I am curious if I can use some combination of home automation to create an interesting water feature instead of Autofill. I will have the Jandy Aqualink system.

The nice thing about pool side auto-fills is that they keep the pool at an exact level. Any type of kluge you put at the pad won't do that. It will just turn on and off the water for a set period of time so you may under or over fill the pool. But there are posts on the site about someone who put in valve with a relay.

Questions about adding an automation-controlled fill line to my equipment pad

I've got a hose bib about 10 feet from my equipment pad. I'd like to add a connection to add fill water into the plumbing at the pad. I'm pretty sure a setup like this has been done before, but I haven't found the details in the searches I ran... I've found more information about auto-fill...

Putting in an overflow at the pad... how to?

I'm really worried we're not on the same page here Rick, The returns of a pools plumbing are behind the pump, from pump back to pool. A passive overflow device and a non return will not work in the return lines as passive overflow and return flow are heading in the same direction...
