Water Color

I am unable to get my pool cleared up. It's got a green haze to it. The tests I've done on the water are mostly right on. My pool is an inground salt pool.
Instant salt = 3451
Alkalinity = 150 (this might be a little high sb around 120)
pH = 7.8
Chlorine = perfect color when tested

I've tried shocking it a few times and it hasn't helped. No algae is forming on the pool walls. Cleaned my filters and water flow pressure is good. Just can't determine why the water won't clear up.

free chlorine being “perfect” is dependent upon your cya level.
See —> FC/CYA Levels
You’ll notice that as the cya increases so does the necessary fc level to keep the pool sanitary.

Once it is green with algae it then requires the SLAM process that @kul mentioned.
Which involves keeping fc at slam/shock level for your cya.

Chlorine isn't a color unless you're using test strips or the comparator block. Both are too vague for the specific targets posted above.

You also can't Overnight Chlorine Loss Test with either. Also needing specific #s.

If it's hazy you need to do the overnight test to know of its algae or environmental. For example, when I had 80 oaks on an acre, I got a little cloudy from the pollen each spring because it was beyond insane. The overnight test let me sleep well knowing the filter would get it eventually. If it was still hazy a week later, another OCLT would help me sleep the next week.

Your spring is likely going by now. It's entirely possible it's environmental but you need to know it's not algae or you risk a swamp while you wait.
