Water and debris on automatic pool cover

Hi all,

I got my Coverstar pool cover installed but I’m trying to figure out what to do with leafs and pine needles mixed with water that collects on the cover.

I have a pump that pumps the water off the cover but how do you deal with the sticky pine needles and leaves on the cover?

Cleaning them off the pool cover before opening is as time consuming as vacuuming them from my pool without cover.

Without cover, the debris falls into pool and pick up by skimmer and pool robot.

With the cover, I have to manually clean the debris off as I imagine it can’t be good to roll it up with debris on it...

Am I doing it wrong?

I live in a new development which means there are no mature trees dropping leaves or leaves from neighbors yard that the wind would blow onto my cover. A few years from now I hope I remember this idea to just sweep them to the side with my pool brush. Or if the leaves aren’t wet, I can just use my cordless leaf blower. :hammer:
