I want to get a good test kit.

The company that imports into Canada recommends La Monte PM-51-3368
The fellow says he sells more Taylor, but that if it were his pool he would use La Monte. Any one with experience with both?

The Lamotte 3368 uses DPD color comparator for chlorine, a color comparing test that can only measure to 3 ppm. It is not adequate.

The alkalinity test and calcium test instructions are also rather odd and don't appear to be able to measure to the same precision as the Taylor ones used.

Can't say for sure but I doubt the pH test is accurate when the FC is above 3 with this test, while the Taylor one is accurate in FC levels up to 10.

CYA test is probably fine.

I would stick with Taylor.
