Wall Design Help Please

I am building a pool with a large waterfall and a ~ 4 foot tall privacy wall with a fireplace in between.

Originally the waterfall was going to be made out of gunite and do the artificial rocks (with a slide) and the wall was also going to be made out of gunite and then the face of it sprayed with Spray Deck.

I decided the spraydeck would be "to boring" and not match the design as we are going for a "Colorado boulder style pool".

so I asked my PB to do the wall out of gunite and sculpt the wall to look like the waterfall. He said the issue is if we sculpt the wall to look like the waterfall it will cost 3-5k more because he has to come back after they shoot the gunite and do all the sculpting.

Here is his idea.....
Change the waterfall to a real stone "Moss boulders" and just gunite the slide. Then make the wall out of similar moss boulders to make it look right and match the waterfall. He said if we did that, it wouldn't be much more expensive because we would be saving money by not shooting the wall out of gunite. He said he would just shoot a "footer" then start stacking the stone on top of that. He said that would look good and not require much more money.

My question is, I cannot visualize what he is saying and I am having a hard time googling what a wall out of moss boulders looks like. Whats everyone thoughts? will this look good?

See the attached picture.

I just googled "wall of moss boulders" without the quotes and then clicked images and got a ton of exactly what I was thinking I'd seen before. I think some can be cool and others not so much. Try the google again and then meet with him and some pictures and confirm what he is thinking so there are no surprises.

Ok,

I have 3 options to design my wall. I want as many opinions as possible!! Pictures below for reference. **the price will be almost identical no matter which route I go, so price is not a decision maker its solely looks and design**

My house has round "river" rock on it, so I didn't know if I needed to tie the wall and/or fireplace with river rock to make it look right and bring the pool design in with the house.

also remember my concrete decking around pool will be a tan style spray deck

this is my pool design. I am going for a "Colorado style" feel and sort of "rustic"

1) Option 1: The columns on each side out of river rock. The wall out of a darker brown spray deck The fireplace and "fire boxes" out of river rock. See the below picture (just imagine the fire boxes beside fireplace) the river rock will match my columns on my house perfectly Negatives....the wall would just be spray deck so it wouldn't be anything exciting, but this design might go the best.

2) Option 2: The columns on each side out of the same moss rock that will be my waterfall (have to use imagination here as I understand the rock in the picture isn't exactly what my waterfall rock will look like) The wall out of the same river rock on my house. The fireplace and fireboxes out of the moss rock like my waterfall.See the below picture. I am worried this design might have "to much" going on with all the different stones

3) Option 3: The columns, firebox and fireplace (the entire wall) out of the same moss rock as my waterfall. I think I may be leaning this route, but the only thing I don't like is that it wouldn't have any river rock in the design at all to tie in the house river rock. I do not have a picture of this, but just use your imagination and assume it will be a wall made out of the same moss rock like my waterfall (like the above picture on fireplace)

I like Option 1 best, especially when visualizing the fire boxes. I think it ties in nicely to the house and keeps the theme without being overbearing. Plus, you can accentuate the wall with anything you want more easily.

I like the river rock fireplace and pillar idea the best. Maybe add a pillar the same height as the one at the end of the wall, but only half as thick at the house where the wall begins.

Not sure what I'd do for the wall itself, but the spray deck can easily work and you can always change the color in a few years to 'freshen' things up if you like.

Option 1 to the max! Details why in a bit.

NOT option 2 for the very reason you say---------too much going on

Option 3 mehhhhhhh okay but I really think 1 is it

The reasons for option 1:

-house is there and wall is here. The river rock will be on both and tie them together. The spray deck on the walls should be of the same color as the deck but a little darker will help tie it all together.

-you can fancy up the wall with wall art. You could always add river rocks in pretty designs to fancy it up or use iron or such.

-this one will make your waterfall/slide really stand out as a feature. It is still rock just bigger rocks.win-win

So there ya go! NOW what do you think?

You guys make great points. And the funny thing is my pool builder liked option 1 the best as well.

he envisions a light tan deck and a dark brown wall made from spraydeck. The wall being shot out of gunite then sprayed with spray deck.

kim you make a great point in that if I built the entire wall out of moss rock that this might take away from the waterfall and I definitely do not want that to happen as I'm spending a decent penny on the waterfall so it needs to be the main feature (~16 ton waterfall with slide)

proavi, option 1 has a pillar on both ends of the wall. Identical height and width. I just asked my PB to get me the design and if minor details were left out it was no big deal as I can use my imagination for the finished product

Twin mama, great point on adding art the wall wall to "spice it up"

i am going to add a iron texas star star at the top of the fireplace for an art piece. My PB is going to lodger the star into the fireplace so it stays put.

i could always put a couple more "iron" pieces on the wall to the left or right of the fireplace just hung up with nails or something...
or I can add neat signs throughout.

any ideas or pics of what I should put on the wall? "Iron" wise...
