VSP with 3-bit external speed selection?

A couple of years ago I found a Variable Speed Pump whose 8-speed selection could be accomplished externally via a 3-bit digital interface.
I began intermittently designing a custom DIY automation controller around that pump, and am now at the point where I want to buy it, but cannot find it.
All I find are VSPs using proprietary protocols over a RS-485 interface. Is anyone familiar with the pump I previously found and, if so, whether is still available?
 
A lot of smaller (1.5 HP) pumps use some type of external control using discrete inputs instead of RS-485.

The Pentair SuperFlo VS one, and I believe at least one of the pumps sold by INYO pool is another.

They usually don't advertise it, so you often have to dig through the manual.
