As we are having freezing weather in the DFW area this week for the first extended period in some time, I decided to validate the Freeze Protection (FP) mode of the VGreen 165. With the air temp at 24 degrees this morning, I reasoned that I should be able to get FP to kick in automatically.

I have the 165 set to Step 1 - 3100 for 8 hours. Step 2 - 600 for 8 hours. Step 3 - 0 for 8 hours.

To test the function, advance to a 0 flow step. You can do it by pressing (in my case) the Step 3 button, or press Stop, then Step 3, and Start to get there that way.

In about 10-15 seconds, with 0 RPMs on the pump and a temp below the target 39 degrees, the pump will kick in to a mid-speed mode. The normally-solid Step LED will flash when the pump is in Freeze Protection mode.

I presume if the schedule advances automatically to a 0 RPM step rather than being set manually and it's below freezing at the time, it will kick in as it did with the manual test, and then when the 0 RPM step is completed, it'll run the normal mode with >0 RPM back at Step 1, for example.

Sorry you didn't get an answer earlier. Seems the V-Green simply runs in 8 hour increments, and ignores the 24-hour schedule while under 39 degrees.

The 8 hour runtime is printed in the manual dated 2013. My manual, dated 2016, says it is 1 hour. I think they updated the firmware along the way.

Either way it works. Whew!
