Vacation what to do with pool?

Absolutely, I didn't mean to make it sound like an algae outbreak is guaranteed. And I've never had to do a SLAM, but from what I read they sound like a lot of work, and a lot of expense. Better to pay up front and avoid the possibility altogether, I say...

I did get a family member to check on the pool and to turn pump and SWG on and off each day.

i was just gone for six days and did 3 tabs in my pool with a solar cover. I put the floater under the cover in the deep end in front of a return because I wasn't sure how much it would move under the cover. Brought the pool up to the high end of the recommended level for my CYA before I left. My brother came and swam with his girl friend once while I was gone. Pool pump is on a timer and it was clear and the chlorine levels where fine when i got back. I left my CYA low this spring knowing I was going away for a while, but as others have said you can check the pool calculator to see how much it will effect things.

Probably went overkill with the number of tablets, but I'm peranoid.

Well some how the 11 month old pool developed a leak. So when we get home we will have a empty pool.
