Used hot tub, new to me

Hello,
I follow trouble free pools for my inground pool and it’s been fabulous. An neighbor gave us his Marquis Reward 2012 hot tub. It sat for about 2 years unused. There are a few small issues we’re working on but the tub is in great shape. Before I go buying all kinds of chemicals at the hot tub store, is there a thread you can all direct me to that can tell me how to deep clean this sucker and the chemicals I should use to maintain? Since TFP helped me so much with my pool, I have no doubt it will help me with this hot tub.

Since I have and use the Taylor k-2006 and liquid chlorine in my pool, do you think it would be best to continue that in my hot tub?

Bromine is more stable at hot tub temperatures. There are pros and cons. Best to read some of the discussions in the Spa section.

I read about that right after I made the post above. Where does chlorine come into play? It it always used with the bromine or no? From what I was reading, it’s not super clear. This tub has ozone on it too. Does that matter? I don’t even know if the ozone works. Is it needed at all?

Bromine needs to be activated to effectively sanitize. Chlorine is one of the chemicals that can activate bromine.

That is step 3 towards the end of the bromine article.
