Unnecessary AA/CA treatment

So I did a Citric Acid treatment last night, after dropping FC and Ph, with the hopes that my staining would be removed. I added just over 3lbs, waited a few hours and added about 2lbs before bed. Filter has been on circulate since.
My staining didn't dissipate. So I'm now assuming that the staining is organic and not metal at all.
My question now is, do I need to add the sequestriant still and slowly rebalance water? Do I need to wait the 2 weeks to shock if the metals weren't the problem? If the deep water markings are organic then obviously I need to add a bunch of chlorine to kill it, but I don't want to wait 2 weeks to do it if I don't have to.
I'm really struggling! Pool store here is of no help. I went to talk to them yet again yesterday and they weren't able to or didn't want to help me figure it out. Any help is greatly appreciated.

No, I didn't. I made the mistake and assumed it must be metal (I'm on a well) if it wasn't black Algae. It would be fair to assume its not metal if the stain didn't fade?
Can I just carry on and rebalance the water now? If its not metal then does the sequestriant and time required to rebalance become irrelevant? I shouldn't see a bunch of metal reappear if it wasn't there to begin with?

Hi there. It is also possible that you didn’t dose high enough on the citric acid, or that it is manganese, not iron. Manganese requires higher doses of AA and sequestrant to work, and citric acid already requires doubling compared to AA.

Why not try a crushed up vitamin c on a stain area, let it sit, and report whether it lifts or not.

Please also post a picture of the staining so we can see the tone and flow pattern if there is one.

Also, when I did CA for my iron stains, it took almost a whole day to really see a difference, then it was like a few hours later that they were gone. With AA it was almost like magic. Disappeared as I was pouring it in.
