Unexpected increase in pump power

Hi all,

I've noticed my pump seems to be significantly more powerful all the sudden.

I normally have a nice gentle whirlpool in the skimmer box when pump is running.

Now, it's more like the Niagara falls.
There's barely any water in the skimmer box, all the water being sucked in by the pump, to the point that it is sometimes losing its prime.

The only thing different that I noticed is a water line a bit lower than usual, maybe 1-2cm lower, due to some fairly hot and dry weather lately.

Also, I can hear a lot of turbulences around the filter, within the pipes; and the SWG isn't full of water, therefore pushing air in the return lines. I can see small bubbles coming out of the return jets at high speed.
Pump pressure is normal

You're probably sucking a bit of air in at the skimmer. It can happen if the weir door is stuck down or if the pool water level is too low. Try keeping the water level about half way up the skimmer throat, and just double-check that the weir if free to flap up and down normally. Sometimes after a lot of action in the pool, I've seen the skimmer door stuck down at one of the pools I help with.

Followed your advice, topped up water level to half way up skimmer mouth.
