Uncovered pool looks great, but now what?

I was ecstatic when I lifted the cover off the pool and instead of the green muck I had last year, I had crystal clear water. I anxiously got my pump primed only to discover my Apure 35 chlorinator was leaking excessively. A piece was cracked and so I had to order it. It won’t be here for 6 days. I’m afraid of algae buildup will ruin such a good start to the pool season. Is there anything I could be doing to the water without a running pump to minimize the risks?

Thanks much,

Rob

Can you bypass the Chlorinator to get some circulation?

You can always add liquid chlorine. You just need to ensure it mixes up in the water. Dosing in multiple location and using a something paddle like to “stir” the pool might do it.

Thank you. I can certainly mix-in some liquid chlorine. I tried plugging the holes with pipe wrap where the chlorinator holes are located and it just stretches and lets out very loud and scary vibration sounds. :) I gave up trying to plug!

Don’t forget to dose small amounts in multiple points… your mixing is not going to be as good as what you would get with circulation. Concentrating all chlorine in a single spot is no good.

Btw, if you have a sump pump you can use it to help with circulation.
