I had an interesting thing happen. Last season I last left off with a CYA of about 40. We leave our pool uncovered and pump running at night in the Georgia winters. I needed some liquid chlorine so I decided to take a sample in for my opening. I took the results home and compared them to my Taylor kit. All results showed near the same as mine. I looked at their CYA and it gave me a number of 100. While I did not test my CYA as I am out of the R0013 I knew the number was way off. I added a adjusted a few levels and still needed to pick up some calcium increaser. I took in another sample to a different store since I had to buy something. Their CYA came out to 19. This seems much more plausable as I left off last year at 40 but after a lowering the water level due to rain this seems about right.
The first store that gave me a CYA of 100 uses the Bioguard Alex system I believe. The second store that gave me a CYA of 19 uses a electronic ClearCare Expert analysis. I got to wonder how they could be so far off. i actually had this happen last year with the same stores. Weird. How can they be that far off?
