I am completely new to pools. I just bought a house with a above ground pool and this is on the side. Everything else was pretty straight forward on how to hook up but this one pipe coming out of the ground shown in the photo has a air nozzle built into the cap. It appears that the cap has to come off and screw into the bottom of what I think is called the skimmer? Does anyone know if that is correct?

Was the pool winterized? I'm guessing that the air hose was blow out with air and you will need to unscrew the cap and screw it into the union on the bottom of the skimmer. If I'm correct the air hose it to your pump, and the hose on your left is to your drain
