Hi everyone .. Thanks for all your help over the last two years with my salt conversion, with a -hat tip- too Coyboy Casey for listing all the Equpment I would need to fully automate my new salt pool, but everything is so easy with what I have why bother.

on the 8th of June this year I was staying at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Backers Field California, where they had an in ground Clorine based pool. On the second day of my stay I decided to try the water, it seemed good with a very low Clorine content. I started my swimming my lap routine and soon after 15 to 20 laps I noticed my eyes started to burn and to Clorine content was way up. I stopped swimming and look around and they were two kids pouring 4 gallons of 75% Clorine concentrated liquid into the pool. this was a 16x32ft pool with an average depth of 4ft. Could someone tell me what that would bring the level of Clorine up to.

Can't be. It burns off so quick that no matter how concentrated the manufacturer made it, it would be 12.5% by the time it got to the pool. Somewhere around there is where the degrading slows and takes longer. Most 12.5% unless it's completely fresh from a bulk supplier will be 10% by the time you use it.

Don't believe the kids, my own GC with 30+ years experience told me that his liquid pool shock was 99%.

So what could *that* do to FC ? It depends on the gallons. With a large hotel pool it could easily be 100k gallons and only be 4ppm. In a small 15k pool it would be 27 FC if 4 gallons of 10% was used.

Ah yes Bakersfield CA, just north and over the mountains from LA and the fourth-most productive agricultural county (by value) in the United States. Also home to country music inspired by electric guitar with stars including Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakam, and Merle Haggard.

Too bad your swim was interrupted by the pool chemical application.
Never a good idea to add chems with people in the water.

Here’s what PoolMath
Comes up with based on the dimensions u gave.

This may or may not be a high fc level depending upon the current cya level of the pool FC/CYA Levels
It is safe to swim up to slam level for your cya but it’s definitely not advisable to pour chems in with swimmers in the water.
I hope your bathing suit is ok & u rinsed off 🚿

Thanks everyone...These commercial guys had 2 gallon containers with a opening of about 2inches, I watched as a thick orange/yellow viscus liquid with streaks of a much darker color was poured into the pool. Anywho I had a somewhat reasonable conversation with the manager expressing what was said above about pouring chems in a pool when folks are swimming. Back home now and the salt water is great!
