What are these? Pool water chemistry including chlorine tests great every time. Yet, every time I skim with net, there are hundreds of these in my water. You can see them congregating on water surface in little clusters. Ugh.
Its a bit hard to determine from the photos, but they look more like springtails than water boatman or backswimmer bugs. Google each and compare the images to the bugs in your pool.
I use Dawn dish soap in the pool and it works great Breaks the surface tension for them to breath and they die... I use a small 8 or 12 oz bottle and see if that works after a week or so.. As a bonus I use the soapy water and a sponge to clean the skimmer while I am at it.. Use the least amount to get rid of them after waiting the week...
I just gently surface push them to the skimmer. Filter traps them easily. I've read running lights at night (I do that almost every night) and fresh mulch can attract them.
