I have the pool looking perfect thanks to all the support on this site. I am now in the mode testing every day and adding as needed. I would like your thoughts on what you think about how my test are coming out.

Drew, the only number that really catches my eye is the low FC. It should never get down to the 1-2 level. Not sure if you are keeping it low on purpose or if it's dropping excessively, but I'd watch that one and keep it balanced with the CYA as noted on the [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA] to avoid algae. Some would be curious as to how/why you are showing iron, copper, and phosphates on this list since we know the TF-100 doesn't do those. Maybe you are supplementing with pool store tests, and that's okay as long as the 6 basic items above are from your TF-100. So for now, keep that FC where it needs to be and you should be fine.

Hi Texas and thanks for your thoughts. Before I found TFP like most I drove to the pool store and they gave me those readings so they are there due to that. You are correct I do only use the TF-100 and K1000 kit. As far as FC I think the reason is due to me not being able to test daily. I have corrected that problem and now I am testing daily and will get the FC up to the recommended level from the FC/CYA chart.
Couple of questions: when using the speedstir do you let it constantly spin when using it? I do but not sure if it should be started and stopped while adding drops. Also when I add chlorine should I test it within an hour or wait until the next test comes in?

Thanks

Drew,

In my opinion, the only really compelling reason to test the FC 30-60 minutes after you add liquid chlorine would be just to verify that your calculations for the amount you were SUPPOSED to add was correct. For instance, if your chlorine is not quite the concentration that you thought because it was sitting out in the sun and got really hot at the store before you bought it, or it's 6 or 12 months old and it's really 5% chlorine instead of 10%. But also, you may need to adjust your pool water volume on Pool Math if your FC test does not come out the way you expect it to an hour later.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is that yes, it might be beneficial to test FC an hour later, but only a few times just to be sure your chlorine is doing what you think it is. After that, you can safely assume it's doing the job sufficiently.
