I heard squared off pools collect more dirt than rounded ones. Can anyone confirm?

Complex shapes are harder to cover than rectangular pools. That applies to solar covers, auto covers and even winter covers to an extent. Not a show stopper, but a consideration.

While rectangular is not particularly sexy, it makes life much easier, especially if you have an automatic cover. It will reduce your need for cleaning, keep your chemistry in balance a little longer, ensure safety when you aren't around and will help keep your temperature balanced. Many people, myself included, have irregularly shaped pools and do just fine, but there are many advantages to simple.
