Hi I have a 19,000 gallon pool, 1.5 inch piping, a Hayward 4820 DE filter and I have a Pentair SuperFlo variable speed pump 342001. NO heater or chlorine generator in the line. The default speeds and times appeared to not be enough because I got algae (water chemistry perfect). I increased the times and speeds and got rid of the algae. What speeds and times do other people do? The pentair default speeds and times are below which seem really low or lacking:
Session 1 = 2 hours @ 3000
Session 2 = 10 hours @ 1400
Session 3 = 2 hours @ 2200
Thanks!

Jean,

I'm pretty sure your "perfect" is nowhere near what we call perfect...

Algae is a chemical problem. The idea that you have to pass x amount of water through your filter to prevent algae is a big myth.

Your pump speeds have zero to do with why you have algae.

Where do you keep your FC and what is your normal CYA levels?

You should take a good read through our pool school and see what we are all about. Pool School

Thanks,

Jim R.
