I haven't been around the site too much and especially after I got the initial 'training' from this site I headed off to my pool last year feeling very comfortable.
Over the winter and early spring I had my pump turned way down and was kind of in "set it and forget it" mode.

Well over the early spring period I was still in that mode and busy doing things away from home, etc. I ended up chasing my pH like crazy and my chlorine was always 0-0.5. I could never get my chlorine up and my pH down but my water was always crystal clear. Any rate, as a result I got a good case of black algae.
I have a SWG but yesterday I went hard with liquid chlorine and got my level slightly high and after a heavy dose of acid I got my pH down to 7.2. I also read yesterday to "scrub" the black algae with a trichlor puck like a scrub brush...
I got same day results with it!

Thanks again TFP!

I you haven't done so already, be sure to review our SLAM Process page and the link below for some valuable info.

yea it's funny after I created this post, then the website shows me "similar" threads and I found it. I'm pretty sure I got it back under control thanks to all the knowledge around here. Next project is the white ring around my tile line. I'm in the 102-105 degree temps this week so looks like it'll be a welcome job in the pool this afternoon with a pumice and acid.
