Discussed here on many, many threads. In a nutshell, the chlorine produced by SWGs in the summer heat responds better to a higher CYA. Last longer with less effort or run time on the cell. In fact, some manufactures are beginning to notice this and modify their manuals. Up in your area, you might get by with a CYA of 50, especially if you have shade, but no way in the hotter climates.
As for the TA, "industry levels" are mainly because they expect you to use chlorine tab (acidic) which pull down the pH and TA. TFP already accounts for all of this. We also know a lower TA helps to keep the pH more stable.
