TF-Pro Salt

Wow! I just got through the book! That took me at least an hour to do that! Here are my results. I tried entering them in the app but it continues to show as NO LOGS. Is that because I am not subscribed? Any way here is what I got on the first go of it.

FC = 3
CC = 1

CYA = 80

TA = 70

Chlorine/Bromine = 3 - 6 (this may not be right)

PH = 7.8

CH = 325

Salt = 3000

It gets easier and faster, I can do full panel in less than 10 min.

After you enter all the results to pool math, you need to choose the check mark to save. Without subscription, you can only have one logged test.

Everything is ok, but your FC is WAY to low for your CYA. Always follow this...Link-->FC/CYA Levels

With a CC of 1, you need to get your SLAM on...Link-->SLAM Process

It is also possible that the CC is inaccurate, so to confirm, do this test. Link-->Overnight Chlorine Loss Test
You fail, you SLAM.
Ok I will try this tomorrow. I’m on brain overload right now!

If your SWG is on, ignore the overnight chlorine loss test tonight. SWG needs to be OFF.
Sure, boost it to 80%. It won't overcome the algae you likely have, but might hold it at bay. Your FC result is way too low for your CYA and you likely already have algae, even if you can't see it.
The OCLT will confirm or deny algae.
SLAM will kill it.

Can I have algae if my water is super clear?

Too late for the OCLT. SWG needs to be "OFF" or 0% in advance of OCLT.
Yes, a CC of 1 is a SLAM.
You can have a clear pool and algae. OCLT will tell you if you have algae.
OCLT testing needs to be AFTER sunset in the evening and BEFORE sunrise in the morning and at least 6 hours between, 8 is better.

Can I have algae if my water is super clear?
Yes! Algae is microscopic. You can have a fair amount floating around that cannot be seen - until it reproduces so much that the water becomes cloudy and/or you can see the growth on the walls/floor.

OCLT = "Overnight Chlorine Loss Test". Perform the Overnight FC Loss Test (OCLT)

IF you are going into a SLAM to kill off algae, yes. Removes the dead algae faster.

For normal operation - your choice. It is a balance between water appearance, cleaning needs, energy costs, and chlorine generation.
Many of us run 24/7 at as slow a speed as will keep equipment (SWCG, Heater, etc.) operational. Then adjust the SWCG as needed to produce the level of CL we need.
The very slow speed is a massive energy cost saving. The SWCG doesn't care about how much water, beyond a bare minimum - only that it is moving. Heaters need a bit higher, but still slow, speed to operate. I have my heater on a timer, so that it only turns on during periods that I have set the pump to bump up a little higher.
Some like to have periods of higher speed, to aid in capturing floating junk before it sinks to the bottom. Depends on your surrounding environment.

Let's back the truck up.

It is likely that you have algae, even if you can't see it.

Sorry what is OCLT?
OCLT is overnight chlorine loss test. UV consumes FC. At night your loss should be minimal. If the loss is greater than 1FC (margin of error for the test), it is likely you have algae.
I run my pool 8am-2pm then 8pm - 2am. Should I be running it nonstop?
When you have algae (confirmed by the OCLT), you need to run the SLAM process to kill the algae. Link-->SLAM Process
Ok I just ran the FAS-DPD again. FC is showing 2.5 and CC is .5.
Your SWG is on. The SWG needs to be OFF in advance of performing the OCLT, and your FC need to be >= 3FC. The OCLT evening test needs to be AFTER sunset ad morning test needs to be BEFORE sunrise.

Good morning! So last night I started the test. My FC = 2.5 & CC = 0.5. This morning when I tested FC = 1.5 & CC = 0.5. I’ll wait for your reply!

Good Morning back !!! A borderline pass with FC below min for your CYA is a one way ticket to SLAMville IMO. @PoolStored wouldn't let that fly in his pool either. C's don't get degrees here. They get swamps. :)

SLAM Process

At worst, it's was needed. At best, it's over in 1 day when you get a free and clear pass on the OCLT. The peace of mind going forward is priceless.

One other note I just redid the CYA test since my head was a little cloudy from last nights anxiety over this. This morning it looks like my CYA is 60, so if I understand things my FC should be in the range of 4-9. For the slam process should I do it now or wait till tonight? I plugged the info into PoolMath so I just add 113 oz of liquid chlorine which I could just do 1 gallon of it and be ok?

Circle back to this when the slam is done so we can spend time on the nitty gritty of it. Tag me or poolstored and ask for the full rundown. For now, click the circle toggle thingie next to the word SLAM. Slam target is 40% of your cya, so 24 FC.

There's no time like the present to start, if you have the supplies on hand. If not, bump the FC free and clear above min and it won't get worse until you have the time/supplies.

Read the blue slam link I posted above. Print it out so you can have it with you.
