Will it harm the pool long term?

In addition to the reasons for not adding them given above, there’s the immediate financial one. At least my PB charges for those things. My bill has line items on it, $x for labor, $y for chemical A, $x for chemical B, etc. oh yeah, and a flat fee for each chemical the have to grab out of the truck. Once I noticed this I started telling them not to put in anything but CalHypo. (I’d tell him not to put that in either, but I don’t want them to decide going to my house is unprofitable, because they really are very good.). So, if your PB is like mine, you got an estimate for opening with standard chemicals and it will be cheaper if you exclude some. YMMV.
