Texas, concrete pool deck lift during freeze

Hi,

After the snow and hard freeze weather over the past week, I noticed that part of my concrete pool deck has lifted up about 1/4". I assume water under it froze and pushed it up. I'm wondering if anyone has seen this and after everything thaws will it go back down? If not, what are my options?

What you're seeing is frost heave, which can be unpredictable. First step is to just wait and see. If it doesn't go down, one cheap idea is to use a flexible mortar to put a smooth slope across that transition.

Thanks for the reply. Luckily it appears to have settled back into place. At this point I just need to dig out and replace the mastic since there are now gaps in it on the side of the deck drain.
