Testing water myself now. HELP

How often are you testing and adding? What FC are you targeting with each test and addition? 3.6 is way too low. Tip - you can save reagents by using a 10ml sample instead of a 25ml sample for the FC/CC test, one scoop of powder, and each drop counts as 0.5ppm of FC. That's precise enough for waht you need.

Thank you! Had a busy couple days but added 12 gallons of bleach during it and I think 6 bags of shock I had on hand. That’s all Home Depot had left. Wasn’t sure if that was the problem or something else. Do you think I just need more bleach for now while I SLAM based on my other numbers?

Are you testing before you add chemicals, finding your current FC, putting that and your target into Pool Math, and adding just what chlorine Pool Math is saying to add?

In case you're not - a SLAM isn't just dump chems in and pray. You test, add, let the pump mix, test, add, let the pump mix, test, add, brush/vacuum and let the pump mix, test, add, etc. The goal is to keep the FC as close as you can to the SLAM level with frequent additions.

I was but not often enough, I guess. Going to pick up more bleach now if that’s all I need

I put the rest I had in and got to 7ppm FC. Still too low!

Suggestion. Walmart sells 10% chlorine, which will be less to carry and usually a better value. Leslie's sells 12.5% chlorine but the last couple years they've priced it so high it's no longer a good value, at least in the Houston area. And be sure you're getting pure chlorine and not laundry bleach with additives. Pool chlorine is in a different department from laundry stuff.

Good tip! Thanks! I’ll check menards. I cleaned out lowes, Home Depot and target. They all had 7.5% checking it every hour tonight!

Thank you! What department do you usually see it in Walmart? I’ve only found it in the laundry aisle at target, Home Depot and lowes at 7.5%
