Do not add acid and chlorine at the same time. Bad Things will happen. Wait at least 10 minutes between those two chemicals.
Since I have never in my life used a pool test kit, I took our sample to the pool store since it's our very first sample of water.
This is what was suggest:
1 gallon muriatic acid- dump in pool with pump off and let sit for 2 hours
Now D&G, this morning didn’t we agree to do your own testing, stay out of the pool store and not to buy anything from them??The better half did bring home 8 gallons of liquid chlorine, stabilizer granules and some algaeclear.
So we have way too much chlorine then. UghYou can squeeze the sock with stabilizer to speed up dissolving.
FC =12. Don’t move decimal.
We put in 3lbs of stabilizer since our CYA level was 2.No worries it will burn off. What was your stabilizer goal? How much did you put in?
That's fine for nowSo retested using the 10mL mark. 22 drops it took to get clear. So it would mean our chlorine level is 11ppm right now.
Good. We have people coming this weekend for a backyard party and I am sure people will be in the pool. I just don't want it to be too high.That's fine. It will come down gradually over the next couple of days. Assume your CYA is 30 and add chlorine as needed. A little rain won't change things much. You have a lot of water in the pool so it takes inches of rain to have an impact.
So I just ran the CYA test and if I did it right, the CYA level is just at 30You can swim with FC up to the slam level. If CYA is 30, 11 or 12 is fine to swim in.
