My SWG keeps showing low salt and shutting down, but the taylor test shows 4000ppm. I noticed the chromate indicator is expired. It looks good still, changes the sample yellow with the single drop like it should. Could expired indicator cause a high test? The reagent is new, but I'm not sure if the indicator tends to go bad from age. If so, would it test high or low?

Salt cell is five years old. The reagent is new, but the indicator expired last year.

Cheap insurance testing again with some unexpired reagent, but at 5 years and reading low salt (when it’s not low) is a telltale sign of a bad cell. 
I'm assuming the SWG is done for, but I'll know for sure once the new chromate indicator gets here. Would still be nice to know if the salt test kit will show high or low if it is failing.
