I was told by the guy I bought the pool from that they do not want you to use a SWG because of the metal (I think - I'm trying to remember the exact conversation) on the pool frame. I had one on the intex I had and I loved it. Does anyone know whether it's true or not? Pros and cons? I live on a saltwater canal so I would imagine I am more likely to rust anyway than someone inland?

Yup, you got it! The saltwater canal is more a threat I imagine as the level of salt is higher in sea water than pool water.
If it were *me* I'd go for the SWG anyway. Plenty (gobs!) of folks on TFP with above ground pools use SWG.
