SWG capacity

My ~8000 gal pool currently has a Pentair IC-40 SWG. May have to replace it after only 3.5 yrs due to the previous owner not maintaining chemistry (primarily pH). Question: I've heard having excess capacity is good for longevity, but the IC-40 seems like massive overkill...would an IC-20 at $250 cheaper be a good move?

Krusty,

An IC20 should work just fine.. It just means you will have to run your pump longer to make the same amount of chlorine..

In theory, you will have to replace it sooner than an IC40..
