Surface debris solution

Have you considered a skimmer plate such as shown in the picture. That may help installation either through the skimmer opening or over the coping into the skimmer.

Thanks Herman. Can you please explain the utility of the skimmer plate? I would not mind using it if attaching the vacuum will be easier that to the suction hole in the skimmer.

You might want to consider a skimmer robot and keep using your suction cleaner. My experience is the skimmer robots work way better than a skimmer with a weir door anyway. Also my opinion but the Betta SE is probably the best one on the market now. If you are not in a rush there is another Prime day coming up in October and during the last one they were pretty cheap. Make sure you buy the Asurion warranty.

That's the caveat with suction side cleaners on a single skimmer pool. The cleaner defeats your skimming action.
Even with a designated wall suction for cleaner, you have to choke down skimmer(s) to get the cleaner to function effectively.

Took a bit of doing, but years ago I convinced a customer that their pool would hold up a lot better if we removed the cleaner altogether (Kreepy Krawly) so the skimmers could do their job.

Thanks for your suggestion. I've decided to plug the cleaner in manually couple times a week. It will be stored in a storage box near the skimmer rest of the time. I might order a vac plate so I don't have to plug it in the skimmer port and that means I don't even have to remove the skimmer basket.

Hello all, I got a genuine vac plate for my skimmer and it fits perfectly but the problem is the Hayward Phoenix's hose connector is a male and so is the vac plate's. I will need a 1 1/2inch female to female adapter to make this work and for the life of me I cannot seem to be able to find it on amazon.
Here are the measurements:
Vac plate: OD (outer diameter) = 1 3/8", ID (inner diameter) = 1 1/4"
Hayward's Phoenix male hose = OD = 1 5/16", ID = 1 1/4"
Hayward's Phoenix female hose = OH = N/A, ID = 1 1/2"

Ideally if I can get a short hose or a connector which is female to female 1 1/2", I would be set using the the automatic cleaner 2-3 times a week without having to remove the skimmer basket. I will appreciate your responses.
