My 23 YO Super Pump II w/ 2.0HP finally stopped. I think it is the motor. I know that I could replace the motor with a drop in VS, but then that still;l leaves me with a 23 YO pump and pump body. I currently do not have SWG, but plan to add it soon. I also want to forward plan for automation. I would appreciate some suggestions as to which pumps, SWG, and other controls play well together. Looking at the Pentair site they want $160 for their interconnect cable, which appears to be little more than Cat6/e with a proprietary connector. I don't mind paying for quality, but I care not to shell it out if there is another way that involes some thinking and sweat.

I just installed a Calimar 3.0 hp VS pump (cheapest option I was able to find by far) and used a Circupool automation adapter to connect to my iAqualink system and control pump speeds via the Aqualink relays. Very pleased with how everything turned out - it's not "full" VS automation (in that you cannot set the VS speeds within the automation system), but it's almost as capable and was simple enough to set up. Total investment for the pump, automation adapter, and two extra relays was around $700.

The pump itself seems to be good quality (so far) and is barely audible at the 1300 rpm I've set as low speed.
