Suggestions for heater

My heater was acting up recently and when I checked it was showing lF code. After researching previous threads here I opened the panel in order to clean out the gas venturis. It was significantly rusted. I didnt take pictures but is was very similar to the pics posted at: Hayward H400 Heater - IF Code, Rusted bracket, how to get to and check the igniter

My temp limiter was still connected to the metal bracket and was not hanging but it looks like about 1/4 inch of rusted metal is all that is left holding that bracket up. I vacuumed as much rust as I could without disturbing anything. I used a wire to clear out the venturis. I turned on heater and it fired up first try and I let it run for about an hour.

But after reading the post included above I guess it is time for a new heater. I see pentair and hayward, similar pricing for the 400BTU unit. Any suggestions on which would be a better choice for me ? Should I buy online at a pool distributor and hire local installer or just go thru a local pool co to buy and install?

Heaters are a commodity. They are all the same basic design and work the same. With an EasyTouch system they can all be controlled with the fireman’s switch.

How you buy and install should depend on the warranty you get.

I like the Pentair MasterTemp heater.
